Meet Your Monster

Rock, Alternative, Punk | Portland, Oregon

Meet Your Monster was started by Eli Hirsch (Lead Vocals, Guitar) and Henry Smith (Lead Guitar) when they were just 13. After meeting at a party of one of their friends parents and playing their first show together that night (due to the last second request for a band to play) the two became best friends and started jamming constantly. After playing in numerous bands with all different line-ups, they started Meet Your Monster with the goal of playing high energy alt-rock, while providing a incredibly entertaining live show. After getting the whole band together including a drummer and a bass player, they were able to conquer this goal. Ask anyone who has been to a Meet Your Monster show, and they will tell you its an experience to be had.

In June 2010, Meet Your Monster released their debut EP entitled, "The Worst", named not after the music on the record (we hope), but after the classic cliche of teenage life, where everything is the worst. Be it raging political opinions on the education system, getting worked up about some stupid girl, or just being idiot teenagers like we are (we have our moments, trust us). The EP has gotten great response from around the world, and is being reviewed in numerous publications such as the UK's "Fireworks Rock Magazine" and on the radio, on stations such as 101.1 FM KUFO and Portland's famous alternative radio station, 94.7 FM KNRK.

Just some of the influences for the record (and the band for that mater) include Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Avenged Sevenfold, REM, StrayCats, and Weezer. "The Worst" EP is a great representation of Meet Your Monster's signature sound, to be able to mix rock with alternative elements such as blues and punk. The first track on the record "Touch Fire" is a catchy guitar driven Rock jam, where as "Hero" is a political ballad, that takes a turn for the worst (no pun intended). Take a listen for your self. Who knows you might end up hating it! and whether you hate it, love it, or somewhere in between, at least you know who we are.

From October 2010 to April 2011, Meet Your Monster traveled constantly between Seattle (Alec's hometown) and Portland to create their newest record, "Between States". The new EP is a high energy record, full of catchy anthems and jams. It is soon to be played on Portland's 94.7 FM, along with review in various publications.

Members: Eli Hirsch (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Henry Smith (Lead Guitar),
Alec Stivers (Drums), Quincy Saunders (Bass Guitar)

Ex-member: Kaz McTwist (Drums)

Sailing to Rome

Post-Hardcore, Emo, Punk | Buffalo, New York

Starting at the bottom, scrounging for any show they could get, Sailing to Rome has proved to their home town (Buffalo, NY) they are ready for anything. Suffering through hard times when sound guys could care less, (and quit the day of a show with The Fold- true story) to times when the only crowd was made up of the other bands girlfriends, Sailing to Rome has grown into an in your face genre shaking the foundations of every stage. With Chris Salasny on guitar, Chadd DePasquale on bass, Steven Evans on drums, and both frontmen/lead guitar players Austin Gold and Jamael Hunte, Sailing to Rome keeps their fans guessing what will happen next.

Sailing to Rome incorporates an unusual sense of melody and harmony into their songwriting for a band walking the line between punk/hardcore/metal. The vocals are accessible and understandable, and the dual lead singers are in excellent form here.

Chris Salasny (Guitar), Jamael Hunte (Vocals/Guitar), Chadd DePasquale (Bass), Austin Gold (Vocals/Guitar), Steven Evans (Drums)

Leah Stargazing

Punk, Alternative, Pop Rock | Providence, Rhode Island / Chicago, Illinois
Band Photo by Robert Caldarone

Rhode Island may be the smallest state of the union, but natives Leah Stargazing plan to put it on the musical map by making a big, big noise. What else would you expect from a band that had the release party for their debut CD "Leave It All Behind" in a venue no less august than the Providence Civic Center, headlining an extreme sport skate competition for 600 fans? It took the band two hours to finish signing autographs, staying until everyone was satisfied. “Coming from Rhode Island makes us more determined,” admits the band. “There used to be a great music scene here. Now it’s more difficult to get noticed, but we just work that much harder.” Apparently it’s working because Leah Stargazing has already achieved venerable rumor status in their hometown.

With their energy packed live performances, it’s easy to see that the band is passionate about their music, loving what they do with the intensity of the young. “Everything comes out with incredible energy and people can just get absorbed in the show.” Describing themselves as “melodic pop-punk,” Leah Stargazing play high energy, upbeat songs about girls, disappointment, growing up and everyday life. “All my songs are experience songs – I figure if I’m going through it, someone else must be going through it too,” reveals songwriter/vocalist Jordan Fielding. “Fans have told me they relate to my songs and are relieved that someone else is thinking the same thing as them.”

Drawing comparisons to Green Day, New Found Glory, Saves The Day and Sum 41 (Billboard Magazine, January 18 Edition), Leah Stargazing have learned more than musical chops by watching other groups rise to fame. “The fan relationship is very important,” Kevin insists. The singer himself admits: “I stand up there thinking ‘what would I like to see if I were in the audience?’ Fans fuel the band. After all, it’s really all about the fans, isn’t it?” Whether performing at home in Providence or playing for a packed house at New York’s famous CBGB’s, the result is always the same. Fans crowd up front and sing every word.

Seeking out new venues in which their music could be heard Jordan and Brandon moved the band to Chicago, Illinois sometime during/after 2005.
