Punk, Alternative, Pop Rock | Providence, Rhode Island / Chicago, Illinois
Rhode Island may be the smallest state of the union, but natives Leah Stargazing plan to put it on the musical map by making a big, big noise. What else would you expect from a band that had the release party for their debut CD "Leave It All Behind" in a venue no less august than the Providence Civic Center, headlining an extreme sport skate competition for 600 fans? It took the band two hours to finish signing autographs, staying until everyone was satisfied. “Coming from Rhode Island makes us more determined,” admits the band. “There used to be a great music scene here. Now it’s more difficult to get noticed, but we just work that much harder.” Apparently it’s working because Leah Stargazing has already achieved venerable rumor status in their hometown.
Seeking out new venues in which their music could be heard Jordan and Brandon moved the band to Chicago, Illinois sometime during/after 2005.
With their energy packed live performances, it’s easy to see that the band is passionate about their music, loving what they do with the intensity of the young. “Everything comes out with incredible energy and people can just get absorbed in the show.” Describing themselves as “melodic pop-punk,” Leah Stargazing play high energy, upbeat songs about girls, disappointment, growing up and everyday life. “All my songs are experience songs – I figure if I’m going through it, someone else must be going through it too,” reveals songwriter/vocalist Jordan Fielding. “Fans have told me they relate to my songs and are relieved that someone else is thinking the same thing as them.”
Drawing comparisons to Green Day, New Found Glory, Saves The Day and Sum 41 (Billboard Magazine, January 18 Edition), Leah Stargazing have learned more than musical chops by watching other groups rise to fame. “The fan relationship is very important,” Kevin insists. The singer himself admits: “I stand up there thinking ‘what would I like to see if I were in the audience?’ Fans fuel the band. After all, it’s really all about the fans, isn’t it?” Whether performing at home in Providence or playing for a packed house at New York’s famous CBGB’s, the result is always the same. Fans crowd up front and sing every word.
