Pop Rock, Rock, Pop Punk | Bridgeport, Connecticut
Changing Directions is a Connecticut based Pop-Rock band that was started during the summer of 2003 by Bobby Ovens, Brian Russick, and Wes Arszyla; 3 life-long friends who shared a true love for all different types of music. Their unique brand of catchy rock and infectious live shows gained them a serious local following. As the months passed and their popularity grew, the guys decided that it was time to enhance their sound. This is where lead singer/songwriter Steve Jimenez and singer/guitarist Ken Chavez came into the picture. They all met in the local scene and formed a strong bond through music.
With their new lead singer and new guitarist the band continued to grow and break the musical mold. They began incorporating a plethora of musical styles such as Jazz, Hip Hop, Latin, and more; which truly helped them to stand out among their 'pop-punk' and 'emo' contemporaries. This is quite apparent in their most recent release entitled, "Could This Be a Dream?" This collection of tracks truly gives us a reason behind the name, Changing Directions. They blur the lines between genres all while retaining their uncanny pop sensibility. This unique blend of music has given them recognition across the country.
The boys have shared the stage with such notable acts as Fall Out Boy, Brand New, New Found Glory, Saves the Day, Taking Back Sunday, and many more. They have embarked on several successful east coast and mid-west tours to spread their sound. No matter how far they go, they will always love and appreciate the strong and loyal fan base they have built in their home state of Connecticut. With each new release, Changing Directions seems to get better and better at what they do. The sky seems to be the limit for this Connecticut-based quintet.
