The Boys of Summer

Pop Punk, Alternative, Rock | Detroit, Michigan
Band Photo, 2012

The Boys of Summer are and always have been four best friends making music because we love it. We are four-piece rock band from the suburbs of Detroit that have finally found ourselves. After our whole lives spent on making music and being in bands we have found our voice. We have figured out the message that we want to convey to all of you, and the story we want to tell. In today's industry things are really hard, money rules everything, and where we are from times are really hard. We are going to be committed to creating an environment, a family, where we can all connect. We have written and recorded 11 songs about certain times in our lives that we all want to share with you. Hopefully through this outlet on our myspace, as well as more in the future, you all can send us comments, messages about anything you'd like to hear from us or just to share stories with us. We hope that this record can evoke every emotion possible. You can play a song with the windows down driving around town with your friends, or when your having a bad day just sitting in your room. We want to share those times with all of you. Hopefully our relationship can go beyond just music. We all have big dreams, but we all need each other to make them come true.

Jon-Paul "JP" Bakaric (Guitar/Vocals), Joshua "Scab" Waldorf (Guitar/Vocals), Bradley Walden (Vocals), Mark Warren (Bass), Kyle Mueller (Drums)

Original singer Bradley Walden left the band in 2009, with Jon-Paul "JP" Bakaric and Joshua "Scab" Waldorf stepping up to take his place. JP, Scab, and Mark later rebranded as Strange Vacation. Their previous band, That Was Something, can be found HERE.

That Was Something

Pop Punk, Rock, Pop | Detroit, Michigan
Myspace Header, 2008

That Was Something started its humble beginnings as high school teenagers in the fall of 2003. A band always full of members with a true passion for making music. After 5 records, tours all over the U.S. and memories that will last a lifetime, That Was Something has prided itself on always staying on it’s own two feet with or without label support. The year of 2008 has been quite the year for the band. Between releasing their first record on a label (Lobster/Oort Records) titled BEARS!, which has sold over 6,000 copies in just 4 short months, and touring the great states non stop, it has been a whirlwind of a ride. Now members Bradley, JP, Mark, John, Ryan and Josh have put their focus into once again making a record that truly stands on its own two feet.

That Was Something wants to make music that after all the trends, clothing and styles are over, still stands tall with an original pop sound that is still easy for people to familiarize themselves with. In a scene where it seems many bands are overnight successes, That Was Something is proud to say that they’ve been working their FOOS off for 5 years, and have no plan of stopping anytime soon.

Their new EP, “Down, But Not Out”, produced by Rob Freeman (Hit The Lights, Cobra Starship) is truly something that the band is really proud of. With influences such as Third Eye Blind, Maroon 5 and Michael Jackson, they really emphasized the POP on this record. “Down, But Not Out” was released on December 9th, 2008.

Bradley Walden (Vocals), Jon-Paul "JP" Bakaric (Guitar/Vocals), Mark Warren (Keyboard), Ryan Kuehm (Bass), Joshua "Scab" Waldorf (Guitar), John O'Neil (Drums)

Bradley, JP, Scab, and Mark went on to start the band The Boys of Summer, which can be found HERE.

Changing Directions

Pop Rock, Rock, Pop Punk | Bridgeport, Connecticut
Band Photo, 2008

Changing Directions is a Connecticut based Pop-Rock band that was started during the summer of 2003 by Bobby Ovens, Brian Russick, and Wes Arszyla; 3 life-long friends who shared a true love for all different types of music. Their unique brand of catchy rock and infectious live shows gained them a serious local following. As the months passed and their popularity grew, the guys decided that it was time to enhance their sound. This is where lead singer/songwriter Steve Jimenez and singer/guitarist Ken Chavez came into the picture. They all met in the local scene and formed a strong bond through music.

With their new lead singer and new guitarist the band continued to grow and break the musical mold. They began incorporating a plethora of musical styles such as Jazz, Hip Hop, Latin, and more; which truly helped them to stand out among their 'pop-punk' and 'emo' contemporaries. This is quite apparent in their most recent release entitled, "Could This Be a Dream?" This collection of tracks truly gives us a reason behind the name, Changing Directions. They blur the lines between genres all while retaining their uncanny pop sensibility. This unique blend of music has given them recognition across the country.

The boys have shared the stage with such notable acts as Fall Out Boy, Brand New, New Found Glory, Saves the Day, Taking Back Sunday, and many more. They have embarked on several successful east coast and mid-west tours to spread their sound. No matter how far they go, they will always love and appreciate the strong and loyal fan base they have built in their home state of Connecticut. With each new release, Changing Directions seems to get better and better at what they do. The sky seems to be the limit for this Connecticut-based quintet.

From Cities to Statelines

Electronic, Indie, Acoustic | Chesterfield, Virginia

I'm Andrew Jacobs.
All of my songs are based off of my thoughts and observations. This is my way to vent, that is why a lot of songs are pretty negative. Its my way to get everything in my head out in the open. I honestly don't expect to get anywhere far with this, I just do it for fun. I understand its not perfect, it was never meant to be.

P.S.
If you see me in real life then come say "hey!" or something.
I am absolutely horrible at small talk and will most likely make every single conversation awkward but its better then not meeting you at all. :]

The Dinosaur on My Back

Pop Punk, Easycore | Columbus, Ohio

The Dinosaur on My Back is a christian popcore band that is looking to break boundaries and stereotypes. Hailing from southern Ohio this band is a breath of fresh air to the local music scene. With a unique combination of catchy choruses, brutal breakdowns, and smooth synth their sound is nowhere near ordinary. The members are aged Freshman to Seniors in high school, and look to make a difference in whoever hears their songs. Taylor Stepp the band’s drummer/vocalist says “We write our music to help kids understand where they are in life, to try make sense of where they should be and to see the light at the end of the tunnel.” It’s apparent that The Dinosaur on My Back has made tremendous strides musically since they formed in the Summer of 2009, and with their fresh new sound that appeals to fans of all genres, it’s hard to tell how far these kids will go.

Ashbury

Pop Punk, Rock, Alternative | Las Vegas, Nevada
Myspace Banner, 2008

We're not really into the whole "let's pretend someone else wrote our biography so we can taut ourselves in the third person" biography. SO HI. We're Ashbury. We started about 3 years ago with some humble beginnings, practicing in the same garage that we still practice in today. By a stroke of luck, or fate, we were entered into a contest in 2006 that Bon Jovi put on called "Have a Nice Gig." We promoted from day until night, and came out on top of the local competition. We opened for a band that night that we had all been listening to since we were little kids, it was definitely a defining moment in our careers and lives. After that we were entered into the larger scale competitions against all the other bands who had won their local "Have a Nice Gig." Yet again we found ourselves in shifts, at least 2 of us up at any given hour, trying to live our dream. After thinking we had lost the national competition, 94.1, our local top 40 station surprised us and Bon Jovi had personally invited us to come to Giant's Stadium to play with them again in front of a sold out crowd of 50,000. We can't begin to tell you how surreal it is, even 2 years later that we actually played that stage. 94.1 was also kind enough to put us on rotation for a few weeks, and we did really well, staying in the top ten almost the whole time we were on rotation. That opened up a lot of opportunities for us.

Eventually we were approached to have our music on some MTV shows. The night we signed the contract, we weren't aware that they'd air it so soon, but it was amazing to have one of our good friends call us and say she had heard our song Come On on The Hills that night. We later had more songs on Laguna Beach and Pimp My Ride. We bought ourselves a legitimate 15 passenger van after that and we went where we had always hoped life would take us, on tour. We finally made our way out to Wisconsin to write the new album and to use as a home base so we could tour on the east side of the country for a while. Originally we had planned this album themed around Ghosts, each one metaphorical. The title of the album was going to be called "The Things that Haunt You." So we wrote as many songs as we could, and recorded them into garage band and started sending them to our favorite producers. The first producer we contacted was Lou Giordano. We had all gone through some of our favorite bands looking to see who produced them. And Lou was on so many of these records including The Ataris, Taking Back Sunday, Goo Goo Dolls, and Sherwood (one of our all time faves). It was amazing not only that Lou got back to us, but he was genuinely excited about our new songs. It took a lot of time before we figured out all of the logistics. But after an amazing friend of ours Shane Valdez decided to Executive Produce the record, we were all set. We got to live in New York for a month and record with Lou at Millbrook Sound Studios. It was hands down one of the best months of our lives. The album came together and we decided to call it "Off With the Lights." So here we are, back in Las Vegas. We just got the Mixes back, and it's an understatement to say that we participated in something unique and amazing in making this record. Now were trying to get everything done so this stuff can get to your ears, and we can get back in that van and do some more touring. We're beyond thankful that we've got to come this far, and we can't wait to see what's ahead!

Waiting for Headlights

Pop Punk, Easycore, Rock | Morristown. New Jersey

Tony, Ryan, and Geoff have been playing music together for several years, but one day they decided they wanted to start playing music that was more catchy and poppy than anything they had played before, but at the same time, heavier than any of their other music. Melody was enlisted to bring full out, awesome vocals, and Tony's brother Billy was added to complete the line up. They quickly released their "Smashdown" EP as a way to introduce themselves to everyone and are currently working on their second release that will be chock full of catchy melodies, passionate lyrics, and of course, beautiful, chugging breakdowns =)
