Daydream on Autopilot

Rock, Alternative, Pop | Bushkill, Pennsylvania & New York City, New York

Hailing from NYC and the Poconos of Pennsylvania, Daydream on Autopilot was a band waiting to happen. With this diverse group of dreamers ranging from classically trained musicians to hardcore rockers, their individual experiences range from playing concert halls, to every music venue in NYC, to opening for popular artists at Kiss FM concerts nationwide. Since then, their sound has developed into a more modern, heavier vibe.

Having already landed music on MTV shows such as "Pageant Place", "Parental Control", "Next", and more, with airplay on selected radio stations and a steadily building industry buzz, the rock 'n roll trio is currently gearing up for their 2008 fall FYE tour to promote their new EP "Better Off Alone" (now available on iTunes).  Teaming up with companies such as Samson / Hartke and FYE / TransWorld Entertainment, they not only strive to get their music heard, but to fulfull a greater purpose in using music to create a positive influence in the world.

Daydream on Autopilot not only takes audiences by storm with their energetic live performances, catchy songs, and upbeat personalities, but they work diligently to completely redefine the impact that rock stars have on developing minds.  Being a completely drug and alcohol-free band, the trio decided that if they were going to reach for the stars, they might as well help as many people as they can along the way.  Creating a positive influence for children as well as inspiring everyone to pursue their dreams has become an integral part of the band's goals.

Ready to take the world by storm, together they embark on an adventure to bring the world new and exciting music, awesome live shows, and an incredible music experience. Daydream on Autopilot had plans to record a full length record, and even entered the studio, but nothing was released. They won a Hollywood Music award and had a full blown Peavey sponsorship. Singer Emii later got signed and started a solo career.

Studio Members: Emily "Emii" Morris (Vocals), Oleg Sarksiov (Keys), Dan Malsch (Guitar), Tim O'Grady (Bass), Curt Morris (Drums)

Touring Members: Emily "Emii" Morris (Vocals), Oleg Sarksiov (Keys), Jason Macheska (Bass), Chris Hughes (Guitar), Zhach Kelsch (Drums)

Emii & Oleg were previously in the band Cherryfix.

The Canvas System

Alternative, Emo, Rock | Bristol, England

The Canvas System formed in the summer of 2006 and has already been making great progress. They have just finished recording their 10-track debut album "Everything we left behind", which will be on sale in March this year. They have also been busy planning their UK summer tour, which will run between May and July 2007. The band has been credited by vocalist Adam Duritz from The Counting Crows and has been rated on the band’s website, which has helped them gain an even larger following.

Their musical style can be compared to bands and artists such as Paramore, Alanis Morissette, Flyleaf and The Smashing Pumpkins. Soaring melodies, catchy choruses and moving lyrics, The Canvas System are already making an impression on the UK South West music scene and they are all prepared for a long career ahead of them.

Members: Tara Davies (Vocals), David Heaton (Guitar), Phil Iwanuik (Guitar), Hannah Spencer (Bass), Will Sealey (Drums).

Our Devices

Post-Hardcore, Rock, Experimental | Reno, Nevada
Band Photo, 2010

Sometimes the ringing in your ears is welcome. It signifies the experience of a good hardcore show. The kind you used to frequent in high school, taking you back to the days of chugging tall cans in the parking lot before running in to catch your friend’s band and maybe joining the mosh pit.

In the case of Our Devices’ assault on the eardrums, the ringing infliction is caused by a progressive hardcore sound—furious, fast-paced instrumentals underlying catchy vocals and digestible lyrics—think Finch meets Anberlin. It’s a formula the local quintet didn’t stumble upon accidentally.

“We really want to reach a broad audience,” singer Kraig Morgan explains. “That’s why a lot of the songs are more structural and almost radio-friendly. We want to find this happy middle ground where we’re still doing what we love, but at the same time playing what people want to hear.”

Despite having just played its first show and only being together as Our Devices for three short months, its members themselves aren’t newbies to the ways of the music world. All five musicians have previously played in other local bands—Morgan formerly in Ashton, and drummer Nick York, guitarist Jessie Gonzales and bassist Alex York were all members of The Airplane Game, and guitarist Joe Foley still currently plays in Wolf City.

Past experiences taught them to run their current show a bit differently this time around. Instead of traditionally playing live before making it into the studio, Our Devices digitally released its debut, self-titled EP earlier this month before ever taking the songs to the stage.

“From previous projects, we’ve all been in a position where we’re doing things kind of unprofessionally, so we all agreed that we wanted to do something that was completed before we presented it in front of people,” says Morgan. “We wanted to make sure that we had a record that sounded decent.” The album got its professional sound courtesy of Fat Cat studios in Sacramento, where acts such as This Calendar Year have recorded.

2010 member line up: Jessie Gonzales (Guitar), Nick York (Drums), Alex York (Bass), Joe Foley (Guitar), Kraig Morgan (Vocals)

While some bands tend to pick their names based off the current popular forest animal, or just something that rolls fluidly off the tongue, Our Devices branding was carefully chosen.

“The name of the band comes from the term, ‘when left to your own devices,’” Gonzales, who coined the moniker, explains. “It sums up the whole band because when it’s just left up to us, that’s all we have, our sound.”

A sound that’s a mix of all five members’ talents and musical tastes. Each member contributed to at least one song on the EP, though Morgan is responsible for all the lyrics. Each member brought inspiration from their various favorite genres to the table.

“It’s kind of an eclectic mix of what these guys listen to, which is harder stuff, and what I listen to, softer, more straightforward rock like Jimmy Eat World and Death Cab for Cutie,” Morgan says of the EP’s five songs.

Our Devices is also not a band without a long-term plan. Having all grownup in the Reno music scene, they’ve got a bigger goal other than just bringing the music they love to the masses—and, they’re quick to point out, aside from world domination, of course.

“Basically, I want to rejuvenate the scene,” says Morgan. “Back to the way it was when I was in high school and kids didn’t care what they looked like when they rocked out in the crowd. I really want that Reno scene back again.”

2011 member line up (left to right): Joe Foley (Guitar), Nick York (Drums), Adam (Vocals), Alex York (Bass), Jessie Gonzales (Guitar)

After the release of their debut EP the band changed vocalists.

The archive for Light the City has been updated. We've changed "Translations (Acoustic)" to a higher bitrate version and added their missing song "I See Right Through".

We are still missing a proper quality version of the track "The Way Things Play Out" from their 2010 EP.

We've updated the post for Triumph and Parade. Their self-titled EP and "Carve Your Own Path" are now available on streaming so we've removed them from our archive.

Ready the Way

Hardcore, Progressive, Metalcore | Richmond/Lynchburg, Virginia

There are undoubtedly so many other things that these guys could be doing, like focusing more on school and such, but they were called to something that they feel is so much greater than anything else they could be getting into right now. God has brought them together, in their current form, to spread His love and the good news of His Son to a scene of young people that is slowing dying from the inside out. There is something greater. There is something deeper. There is love.

Sometimes, in this world, it is so hard to see much farther than your arms can reach. It becomes so easy to be nearsighted and lose sight of what purpose this life may hold. Without purpose, what point is there? Knowing who you are and why you're here changes everything. We believe that there is hope, even if you have lost sight of that purpose. So often, that hope and a certain peace can only be found on the other side of war. That peace is rooted in the unconditional love and eternal security that is found in Jesus Christ. We believe that such a war is at hand we are here to fight.

Sterling

Rock, Indie, Pop Punk | Tyler, Texas

Sterling has been playing together since late 2003. It is remarkable that although each member has been in several bands, Sterling only began 9 months ago. Over the past 9 months, Sterling has begun to grow in music, and in popularity. With all the genre classifications that exist today, Sterling prides them self on their original “ROCK”. Sounding little like other things, they have begun to gain respect from music lovers in every location that they play. Many people use the words “refreshing” or “like nothing I have heard” to describe Sterling, and in many cases most fans find that there is a little something for everybody. With music on their mind rather than fame and fortune, Sterling are sure to entertain and mesmerize.

Sterling comes in full force with an incendiary live show that showcases the tight harmonies and soaring melodies of the band's adeptly composed tracks. With Brian Braquet on vocals, Trevor Tull on guitar, John Hetherington on guitar and vocals, Garrett Berry on bass, and Nick Cogdill on drums everyone will need to watch out for this band!

Brian, Garrett, John, and Nick all went on to form the band The Rad.

All the Day Holiday

Indie, Ambient, Rock | Cincinnati, Ohio
Band Photo by Patrick McCue, 2008

All the Day Holiday, from Cincinnati, Ohio, formed from the dust of an experimental hardcore/punk band. Two original members (Daniel Simmons and Mark Ventura) from the band, accompanied by two replacement members (David Roller and Nathan Frisch) slowly morphed into All the Day Holiday (in early 2006). Life has more meaning than just waking up in the morning, and sleeping at night. All the Day Holiday seeks relationships, and a deeper knowledge of what life is about.

On August 4, 2009 "The Things We've Grown to Love" was released on Linc Star Records (Warner Brothers), and paved a small stepping stone for the band. With their first full length under their belt, Rolling Stone named them 1 of 6 bands to keep a close eye on. The album received a majority of good reviews, and pushed All the Day Holiday into the busy commotion of bands needed to see.
One week before Christmas 2009, All the Day Holiday released a cover of "Christmas Time Is Here" which shown light on the growth the band has made since the release of their first full length record. With a step in the direction of soul, shoegaze, and rock and roll at the roots, this is a band worth a corner on your iPod.

Spinlight City

Pop Punk, Powerpop, Rock | Miami, Florida
Band Photo by Michael Boyet, 2009

"We are Spinlight City" are the final words you hear at the end of their show, leaving a lasting impression on their audience. Resting under the sunny skies of Miami, Florida, the alternative rock quintet is made up of Rayko Batista (vocals), Rey Garcia (guitar/vocals), Tony Noriega (guitar/vocals), David Martinez (bass) and Joey Z. (drums/vocals). Their catchy lyrics and incredibly driving rhythms radiate what this band is all about: great music.

In just three years the band has solidified a brotherhood to which the members have contributed parts of their own personality. Having acquired pieces of each other, they formed a single unit comprised of friendly, charismatic and amazing human beings. Rayko is the most animated band member who can usually be found making new friends outside of your local venue, singing, and dancing. Rey is the quiet band member; he has a lot to say but his reserved attitude is what draws you to him the most. Tony is the funniest in the band; aside from being a serious musician, his antics are guaranteed to draw smiles from everyone around him. Joey is the most easygoing band member. His laid-back attitude makes it easy for fans to approach and really get to know and feel comfortable around the band. David is the youngest in the group. But don't let his age fool you, he will debate anything with you. From the evolutionary chain to metaphysics.

These boys have done some pretty great things in a small amount of time. Preforming at The Vans Warped Tour in '07, Performing at the Florida Music Festival in '08, and being selected to perform at the 2009 Grammy Showcase to just name a few.

In October of 2008, Spinlight City teamed up with powerhouse producer James Paul Wisner (Paramore, The Academy is, Dashboard Confessional) and in their combined efforts conjured up the band's brand new EP: "Agree to Disagree". An infectiously catchy blend of Rock n Roll and Pop music that just leaves you asking "Where can I get more!?"

Rayko, Rey, Tony, Joey and David's years of practice and dedication is the driving force that has gotten them this far and will keep pushing them to go all the way. Their live performance is something you absolutely need to catch. The way they just keep you at the edge of your seat and wanting more. What was once meant to be a jam band in someone's garage has flourished into something more meaningful, more alive. It has transformed into the sensation we feel today, known as Spinlight City.
